Round 13 Catchups and SSPL 2018 Challenge Season Results going into Final Round

Yes the results are out and on time too as everyone did their job.
But first a word from our sponsors

 Merry Xmas Everyone !!!

Many of us will be around Bangkok for Xmas to enjoy traditional Xmas fare. So a few of our sponsor venues have made arrangments for us.  Here are some choices.

Team positions

After the catchups and round 13 meant we have great news. A perfect score with all teams qualifed to go into the final round.

Monday Red Mixed. This week saw Flyers came from behind to jump into first place With 2 catchup games they caught out the top titans who were not watching the field.  Now to pick the trifecta even for the choclates you might find it tough to get a bookie.

Monday Blue Mixed This comp has the real battle being played it for second place as Sport Corner already have the fruit. Ice Mates need to hold on to keep their 2nd place in case Hangout win, if they dont and Mates Ice will melt. With Keep in Touch already past the post, calling a qui·nel·la is and even money bet.

Monday Gold 8 Ball This one is a classic. While waiting to pick up the tropy Alco's are already in the members bar with Pickled Liver drinking pina colada as they watch the race for 3rd as the final Moonshine and Breakers Fun matches get play out.

Wednesday Red 9 Ball This is the same story as the mixed. Seems like everyone worked out the scoring that you try to win everything. Lucky Shot is well clear in the breeze by 2 matches. But Hustlers United's win this week got inot 2nd place and are now ahead by 1 match but still marginal on games/  Darkside in 3rd place will be hoping to advance a match next week as they prey for a United upset so they can change places on games won.

Wednsday Blue 9 Ball This is is a doosy. For those who placed a bet on Turblence last round you would have got very good odds. The quinella with Keep in touch was the long odds go for high rollers. But now the bookies want to lay that off with Turblence getting inot 2nd place as it seems from nowhere. SDnt you love catchups to keep it fresh. Even so they are not safe as Crazy Breakers can beat them and did last round Then if SOS near Mexican they would recover 2nd place. Mind you, if Mexican and Crazy Breakers do win it will still be miracle on games to change the order. But lets wait and see, as they say this is 9 Ball.

Round 12 Update SSPL 2018 Challenge Season

This pineapple turkey at Moonshine Pub last week for Thanksgiving tells the story of how seriously we take our pool league. It seems we are always all together supporting the community as much as Wassana Mitch and Staff when they put on this annual event.

We are saddened this week to see Nick Wetzel sold Pickled Liver and he hands over this Saturday, Dec 1. Yes, that's this week.  But before does he has planned, one a final night tomorrow with Lee Shamrock doing his magic. It will be a farewell and last chance to enjoy with Nick as host, the famous lounge of Bangkok. Not sure but he may even introduce us to the new owner. Like Moonshine and others, the parties at Picked Liver are some of the best. Hope to see everyone there.

Rules It's just 2 round to go with a catch-up week in between for the final race to the top. We all know the rules, are to get all outstanding matches played before Round 14 starts and no deferrals after that. And a forfeit will cost you a place on the ladder and a trophy if you are up for one so make sure you can show up. Talking of rules Peter Morre has been busy cleaning up some of the wording and the overview page has a more comprehensive layout on managing matches. Go take a look.

We do have so much fun in our league with the social spirited challenges we all enjoy That starts and ends with the respect we have for each other and great environment our sponsors give us as part of what we all contribute as friends, to make it work.  We also know that when it gets close as it is now with long odds being given for many tops and second race positions still up for grabs,  we need to take special care not to spoil it all with marginal tactics.

Here are the results for this week Round 12 matches and next round 13 fixture

Round 11 Update SSPL 2018 Challenge Season

This week we welcomed O'Malley's Chieftains. Thanks to Lucky Shot in Sukhumvit Soi 11/1 for hosting them in. Their home is the new O'Malley's Irish pub located at 323 Silom Road. They will play out the season participating to fill the Monday Red competition Bye slot as friendly (F) scored matches.

Round 11 Ladder updates and scores for comps are below along with a full list of matches for Round 12 next week also on our websiteIt's now time to check team strategies for the last 3 rounds with top slots all still very fluid.

Teams do need to arrange to Catch up matches soon so they are played before the start of round 14, which must then be played on time. Missing either will miss out getting 100% match play credit which is the prerequisite for ladder inclusion for trophies etc. Teams falling short on that goal, at the moment, are highlighted in the match credits column.

Note #NA means the matches were unplayed

Round 10 Update - SSPL 2018 Challenge Season

The ladder updates for round 10 comps are below along with scores posted for this week. As we get close to the end of the season it is clear in all the comps that there is more than one race, as teams jockey for better positions.

Before you check your positions, make a note of Moonshine's Thanksgiving Dinner on Nov 22. This fabulous feast get-together is how Mitch & Wassana say thanks to the Bangkok. New and regulars are all welcome. There is nothing like it and many already know we won't miss it.

SSPL Round 7 Challenge Season 2018 -2

The 2018 Challenge, close Round 7 first half, now has a few catchups to go as listed below.
The season has run like a clock so far, with the ladder building like a mosaic. With so many matches and win gaps so close it is set up for an exciting second-half, where almost any team can still win a final position trophy.
Next week in the catchup break we have also bought some matches forward and juggled some rounds to work around the impact of next Wednesday being a religious holiday and a dry bar day.
Here are the standings. You can also any updated on this link

It is interesting how much energy goes onto our pool league. Look at the stats and imagine, with 122,000 balls potted last seasons, how many kilometers are walked around tables to achieve that. Maybe the calories burned balance out on the 4000 litres of drinking too. It must be good for us if 200 people keep doing it every week.

We are blessed with a league which is so much more than just being about winning. In a "once in, no way out community deal", its natural harmony sees people helping each other unconditionally and any issues get sorted in such a positive ways, so we not only learn but get better. That natural bond and the trust we build by challenging each other in social pool team matches where everyone is involved, is what makes it so much fun, so it just works.

Congratulations to everyone for such a wonderful season  The Presentation party is on 20th of August from 8 PM at CLUB 15. The details are on our face book page. We will then do it all again, staring Sept 3. The fixtures will be out soon.

Ok, so here's where we ended up for the whole season including KEGS
