Sportsman 7th Anniversary Party this Week

Sportsman is having a 7 Year Itch event, this week. if you are around, why not enjoy helping them scratch it. To celebrate, their plan is for a great Xmas Eve night for their customers and their families & friends.

This week the committee will re-aligned Wednesday schedule from rounds 5-9.  Some trophy and friendlies match changes are needed to fill gaps. Everyone's feedback is important to keep Captains engaged. Hence this Updating Link , also on the Captains Forum, shares schedule re-drafting so far, so further updates can be agreed quickly.

SSPL Peter Pan Club Upcoming Birthday Events

The “So far so good plan to live forever movement”, has cynics who say “No-one gets out alive”.

Nick and Jack, two of our never get old Peter Pan disciples, along with JD are defying them by celebrating their always young, Birthdays with respective parties on Friday & Saturday

Despite their youth, these are "must-attend" events for the rest of us too. No presents please, but bring your sense of humour and prepare to have fun. Bring partners and families to enjoy the entertainment and socialising with the usual free flow food.

In the Captains Forum by Sunday each week we will now also update you on who plays who & where. We trust this more dynmic way will make it easier and avoid confusion, Please also regularly check the web updated version of the Season Schedules. 

Notice Board version are now out of date given 2 significant changes during initial settling in period. Theseversions should no longer be used except as a guide to see what was planned and for quick access to contact information.  

We do need to reorganise matches to fill gaps which we negotiate with teams as we go forward until it is all stable. Generally, we will try to stick to the non-impacted parts of the schedule, where there are no conflicts .

Upcoming Events

To keep faith with our social mantra, here are a few upcoming social events , being run or sponsored by some in our League community .

 1. Why Not Bar Grand Opening tonight - Saturday 19th Nov 8.

After a great soft opening and a couple of pool matches under their belt this week it should be a great night. Call in anytime after 8 till late to enjoy this new something different bar with a great atmosphere. 

 2. Moonshine Thanks-Giving-Party - Thursday 24th Nov.

This is the 14th year, Mitch & Wassana will host their famous thankyou to the community event. 

The pool table will serve as a giant gourmet delights buffet for the free flow food that does no stop coming all night. You can get there early so you have time for 2nd and3rd helpings.  And the cost is nothing except you just pay for drinks at no more than Moonshine's normal prices. So drink up and have fun!!! Perhaps an extra tip for the staff who work hard for free preparing the food, I do know they appreciated that. 

3. Scottish Ball - Amari Watergate - Saturday, Nov 26th Nov   

This is a Gala Dress Up Event, which promises to be Grand . There are still some tickets. Sue is organising some tables, If you would like to join or make up a group, just contact us. e.g by PM me (Gordon) on LINE.

The ladder will be added next week to show rank positions based on aggregate matches won, with points, then % of games won, separating teams in equal positions.

New Seson Starts Monday

The Winter 2017 Pool Season will commence this Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.  All the schedules will be delivered to each Venue by Saturday Night.
The Schedules are now posted on the website, there are three schedules, Red, Blue and Thurs fun, to view, click here or the Fixture tab on the website.

End of Season Trophy Presentation Wednesday November 9

Captain's Meeting - 7PM November 3rd 2016 - Sportsman Upstairs

There will be a Captain's New Season Orientation meeting on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Sportsman Upstairs. We will start at 7.00pm and plan to cover the main business by around 8PM so events elsewhere can proceed.

Sportsman will have a free BBQ for us, that everyone can tuck into, and a happy hour. If you aren't scheduled elsewhere, feel free to stay on longer for a chat or a game or two.

It is important each team captain or a representative attend. For the upcoming season, we have quite a lot of new teams joining us and we want them to feel very welcome. There is plenty of space in that room, so Captains feel free to bring others, if it helps you with your team communication. 

Together we also want to go over our rules and make sure everyone is connected and the protocol for using the Captains LINE group is understood, We will also discuss how we score and report match results and how captains have wide discretion on managing rules during matches. 

We would also like some feedback on scoring systems and any other matters so we can clarify what works well or otherwise, to keep matches alive and always fun.

The expanded schedules, which will still be as draft, will need clarifications so they can be completed and distributed in time for a smooth start on Nov 14.   

There are now 5 comps to manage, expanded from last season's 3, They include two comps on Monday and Wednesday and one of Thursday. For that we also want to discuss how we can have separate co-ordinators who can work together on ways we might mix them together and even add new or replace teams during the season, to keep it all fun. 

The night is also about us all getting comfortable as an expanded Sukhumvit Social Pool League to sustain our social mantra and highly transparent flavour of support for each other.  We know that has made it all work as a community we all enjoy. 

The committee will meet prior to  this, on Monday 31st Oct at 7PM Pickled Liver to plan the agenda and the Last season Trophy Presentation night, deferred and now on Wednesday, Nov 9th

At each venue a great spirit of sportsmanship was present between teams and supporters, with great pool played in all the games; Both matches went to the wire with game points deciding the winners.

Round 16 Monday Summer 2016

Last night's matches saw 3 bottom half teams topple 3 top half teams in an exciting jostle for position late in the season with now just 2 weeks to go. 

Some suspect that watching the Bangkok Team win the Asia Pool Challenge In Vietnam gave the lowerer teams some good pointers. Interesting now is the race for top position in the bottom half too.

The next 2 rounds look tough as most top half teams play each other, with potential for an exciting finish to divide the trophies.  Lower teams note there is no wooden spoon trophy any more.  

Still unresolved is positioning of Country Boat who took over Rewind points at round 11. Depending on where they finish, to be fair, a suggestion is a play off with an extra couple of matches perhaps even at a neutral location selected by a draw. Same for Wednesday with SM Kungbon.

A warm welcome to Sportsman Kungbon who took over the Rewind slot.playing away at Moonshine. Gracious for sure be we are not so sure MS intended their welcome gesture to give SK a starter win.

The discussion notes on the captains meeting, held Tuesday this week, are on the same link sent on the Captains Line Group. We will refresh that later today so you can find it amongst the substance and banter added since. Thanks everyone who participated. Follow up comments are also noted.

Rewind Replacement Schedule Update and Changes

With the Rewind Monday and Wednesday nights schedule vacant, Country Boat will take over and continue the Monday schedule, and Sportsman Kungbon (upstairs) will take over and continue the Wednesday slot.

Please note this as a change of change of venue on the REWIND line which will also be updated on the standings dashboard .

Monday team who have make up games, may contact Henk at Country Boat (Country Road), who just love to  play pool, and are more than willing to complete these matches.   Similarly contact Reto, who will do likewise for Wednesday.
